The City of Rice Saw Totality During the Solar Eclipse
4/8/2024
The community came together in downtown Rice, Texas to experience this once in a lifetime event. From Maine to Mexico, and beyond, many people saw the total solar eclipse.
Wearing their eclipse viewing glasses, people in Rice saw the moon's shadow begin to cover the sun at 12:22PM with totality starting at 1:40PM. With almost clear skies, Rice residents could see the complete blackout of the sun quite easily, and it became dark as if the sun had just set. Totality lasted for just over 4 minutes and 18 seconds in Rice.
People gathered in Downtown with food trucks and vendors, and enjoyed this time together.
