SMALL TOWN APPEAL IN A CONVENIENT LOCATION

Rice, Texas is located just 45 miles south of Dallas, a straight drive down I-45. We are located between Ennis, Texas with their Annual Bluebonnet Festival, and Historic Downtown Corsicana, Texas, the Navarro County Seat and home to Navarro County Community College.

Our community is full of family owned restaurants and small businesses. We take pride in our shared sense of values, fostering a wholesome lifestyle, and commitment to our schools, local businesses, and community organizations. As of the 2022 census, we had just over 1,200 residents in the city limits of (2.753 sq mi).

Mike Dickens Memorial Park is nestled behind our central neighborhood. With walking trails, baseball fields, a concession stand, and space for kids to play, this park is a destination for family fun and city events.

HISTORY

Rice is a small town with a long history. By 1872, when the Houston and Texas Central Railway was built through the area, a dozen families lived within a four mile radius. One of the railroad owners, William Marsh Rice, donated land for a church and cemetery.
